Leaders' Kick Off Conference - The Word

May be a graphic of text

Thank you so much for your prayers for our Leader's Conference yesterday! We had around 35 in attendance representing 9 churches across the Durban area. It was a sweet time of fellowship and a reminder that we need to Live the Word, Teach the Word, and be faithful in assisting children and youth to Apply the Word.

In ministry this week...

Saturday Brad met with Simon, a young homeless man, who is trying to find work in Durban and has a desire to study the Word of God. Please pray for him and for wisdom as to how we can be a help and encouragement to him.
A busy end to our week, as Mya, Brandon & I accompanied the Gopher group (preschool - Grade 2) to the Fire Station tonight to thank the firefighters for all they do, while Marissa & Brad helped/taught in Olympians (Gr 3-7). Then we all came home and brought the Sr. Youth (Grades 8-12) with us, and they met in our living room! I love being able to minister together as a family.

Kids' Fun Day

We had an amazing Kids' Fun Day on Saturday! We couldn't have done it without the help from the team from Joburg and all the volunteers from the local churches here in Durban! The volunteers jumped right in and amazed us with their willingness to serve. We had 53 kids attend, 11 salvation decisions and 6 kids counseled for assurance of their salvation. Thank you for your prayers!

Prayer Update

Tonight was the kick-off for Olympians and Student Ministry (Grades 3-12) at Grace Baptist Church Queensburgh, which also included the youth from Bethany Baptist Church! Brad was able to share the salvation message with them. Please pray that there is fruit from it!

Sunday, January 13, 2013

We had an amazing time of fellowship with fellow believers at Grace Baptist Church in Queensburgh this morning, followed by a training session with their Olympians Leaders. — at Grace Baptist Church - Youth Ministries.

Paulette & Rogene
Then tonight we had a Skype call with dear friends Rogene & Paulette Wagner, members of our Serving as Senders team at our home church, Community Bible Church in Montoursville, PA. It's been a great day!

Also, new Discipleship Training Centre Students are arriving at Word of Life South Africa today. Praying for them as they begin a new exciting adventure in the Word of God this year!

Natasha (a new DTC Student) Cremelda & Ntombi (2012 DTC Students)
These beautiful young ladies are girls that Mary has had the chance to disciple. We miss seeing them on a regular basis, but are so excited about what God is doing in their lives! Please pray for Natasha, as she starts Bible College this week. Pray also for Cremelda and Ntombi as they have recently finished at the Discipleship Training Centre and have moved back home. Pray for them to live lives sold out for God and to closely follow His leading in the days and months ahead. They are excited about the impact they can make for Him in their community.

Olympians Games Day

Thank you for praying for our second Olympian Games Day this year! We had 95 in attendance and 21 salvation decisions! I sat outside and listened to the gospel being shared in different languages and my heart just welled up with His praise at the privilege to be used by Him.

Prayer Update

Thank you to those that have been praying for Brad's health! He was down this past week for 4 days with gastro, and finally feels like he got his strength back today, almost a week later! He's back in the office today playing catch up and preparing for Student Fusion to arrive on Saturday!
In his absence, John Cottier (an intern with Word of Life South Africa for 2 years) and I were able to teach a second Olympians Training to a church new to Word of Life, South Hills Church. We enjoyed our time of fellowship together with them, as well as seeing their excitement about implementing new changes that will facilitate discipleship with the children in their church!
Please pray for the Student Fusion team, as they are in training this week at Word of Life in Schroon Lake, NY and will arrive in South Africa on Saturday. They are a team of students from all over the US that are coming to help with the ministry in South Africa and Mozambique. Click here to keep up with the team!
